Who we are

Great Explorations Namibia, a boutique and specialized travel agency, was founded by Lilly, an industry expert with two decades of experience in guiding travelers through Namibia, Botswana, and Victoria Falls. Having started her journey with The Cardboard Box Travel Shop in 2006, Lilly gained extensive knowledge and expertise, particularly in customizing self-drive safaris, which is her passion. We pride ourselves on being a small, dynamic, focused and independent organisation. Based in Namibia we have plenty of local advice and knowledge and are always on hand to sort out any last minute details of your Namibian holiday.

What we do

Our focus is on individual travellers and small groups, the overwhelming majority of whom are renting a car and self-driving around Namibia. However, we also arrange guided safaris and fly-in safaris, book accommodation and arrange specialist tours (eg birdwatching or walking).

We pride ourselves on being completely independent and our ability to offer holidays that are tailored to individual requirements, budget & interests.

We offer 24/7 backup and are close by while you are travelling and always reachable. Should you feel uncertain along the way or hit a “bump along the road” you can easily contact us, and we will gladly assist you to make your trip and stay in Namibia & Botswana as enjoyable as possible with little or no interruptions.

Thanks to the Great Explorations Namibia (Anja was our Travel Consultant) we had an amazing experience in Namibia. She provided us all the detailed information and if we had any questions during the trip they resolved instantly. The attention was amazing from the moment we contacted them until the moment we finished the trip. 100% recommended!

We have just returned from our 15 night self drive safari in Namibia. I initially looked at the 14 day “Wonders of Namibia” which Lilly helped adapt to a 15 night trip per my request. Our trip was a magical experience, Great Explorations Namibia arranged all the booking of lodges and guesthouses in addition to our vehicle rental. We did not experience any problems or issues throughout our journey. Lilly was also very helpful in suggesting and arranging activities and excursions during several at several of the lodges we stayed at. She personally met us when we arrived to pick up the vehicle and described the content of the welcome package with us. I wholeheartedly recommend using the services from Great Explorations Namibia if you plan a self drive vacation in Namibia.

As a traveler that is used to plan trips alone, I was skeptical about using a tour operator, but I can say it was worth the investment. Allison was INCREDIBLE and really helped me find the best options for our preferences. We spoke for weeks before the trip, she adapted the itinerary to what we wanted to do and the period we were staying. They helped us in getting a SIM card and in making last minute changes due to a delayed flight. I can’t recommend them enough! thank you for everything, Allison, and Lili.
